Samsung Galaxy S20 FE Reviews!

People were quite impressed with Samsung’s Galaxy S20 model and the S20 Ultra as they are definitely on the higher end in the smartphone market. But not everyone can dish out more than £1000 for these flagship devices. So, the Korean tech company thought it best to release a lighter version of their S20. You might think that it will be named as the Galaxy S20 Lite but it is officially labeled as the S20 FE with FE meaning Fan Edition.

Price

For those who want to bring home a cheaper Galaxy S20 in the UK, then you will be pleased to know that the Fan Edition variant is priced at £699 for its 5G model. It is expected to be released in the market on October 2 which means that those who don’t want to spend more than a thousand pounds for a flagship phone can get all the specs of the S20 model at a much cheaper price.

If you are the type of person who wants a smartphone that comes in fun and funky colors, then the FE will not disappoint since there are six colors to choose from. Since this model is sold at a cheaper price, expect that the tech company has made a few downgrades to its design. One example of this is replacing the glass cover at the rear with a polycarbonate one. It also has fuller bezels which doesn’t really take away from the awesome display that it is equipped with. You’ll be happy to know that it still has an IP68 rating meaning that it can survive a dip in the water for half an hour at least.

Display

In terms of display the screen size is at an impressive 6.5 inches and with a fast refresh rate of 120Hz. What this means is that scrolling, swiping, and watching movies or playing games on your device will be a great experience.

For its price, you will get three lenses at the back of your phone with a 32MP selfie camera at the front. At the rear, there is an ultra-wide lens, main camera, plus a telephoto lens. It offers 30x zoom and although the results are a bit grainy, it is impressive enough given its design. The Night Shot could be better, but the details are still there which isn’t bad.

Performance

Let’s talk about the performance of the S20 FE. Samsung did listen to what their customers' were saying about having a powerful device minus the expensive price tag. The FE model is powered by a Snapdragon 865 processor with 6GB worth of RAM. The standard internal storage that you will get is 128GB with the option to expand through microSD. It does deliver top performance whether you are watching videos or even playing a heavy game in your smartphone.

Battery Life

Just because the S20 FE model is a cheaper version of the popular Galaxy S20, it doesn’t mean that they have skimped on its battery. It still sports a 4,500mAh battery which is actually bigger compared to what is used in the S20. You will get plenty of hours on this model, that’s for sure. However, if you are expecting a fast charger on this one you will be disappointed as it is simply equipped with a 15W charger. You can buy a faster charger but it will mean additional expense on your part.

Conclusion

It is still early to tell whether the Galaxy S20 FE model is going to be a fan favorite, but it does seem promising given that it has all the cool features of the S20 in it minus the hefty price tag. From the specs that it has, smartphones that are in the same price range will be facing a tough competition with this model which is not surprising given that Samsung is known to produce mobile phones for different kinds of customers.

So far, the FE has plenty of exciting features in it although its design is somewhat watered down. Should this be an issue? Not for those who simply want a powerful device that will not break their bank. We will have to wait and see whether Android users will enjoy this lighter version of the S20 in the months to come.
